WOW, I am once again overwhelmed with email, having resubscribed to this list. I had to unsubscribe while I was away fishing in Canada for the month of September and unable to check my email. The amount of mail generated by this list can be awesome.
However, let me state that firstly, I really enjoy this list and generally just delete those messages that I do not wish to read. Secondly, I would like to offer a suggestion and solution to the amount of email generated. A digest version is available and just requires that Byard turn on the feature. This would allow him to set the number of messages that appear in each digest. This then allows subscribers to request to only be subscribed to the digest version which would contain all the emails as a group rather than individually, thereby cutting down on the number of emails received in a given day to just one or a few instead of many. This would also not make it necessary for subscribers to unsubscribe while away and necessitate them resubscribing on return. I belong to many reflectors (both ham radio and trout fishing related) and they all offer this feature and it sure makes it easy to receive and read emails generated by members. Perhaps someone beside me can suggest this to Byard. I have written him several times in the past without result. He has always just stated that the feature is not available at this time. But, it just has to be turned on by the list owner. It costs nothing and is a majordomo feature. I know, because I moderate several reflectors for ham radio groups that use the majordomo protocol.
