Birdie, i like turkey flats, and one of the best and cheapest ways to get them is to go to your Walmart or wherever, and just buy a duster. You can usually find them in lots of different colors, pink, yellow, orange, white, green, whatever. Buy them all, lol. Fly shops will just rip you off in comparison price wise. All your going to do is scrunch up the tip of the feather anyway, and tye it in for a post. You sure as heck do NOT need to be paying fly shop prices for that. I buy feather dusters all the time for different things. Some have decent Ostrich Herl,..... others just have feathers dyed in a color(s) i like. Always keep your eyes open for materials in places you might not think of as a materials place. I paid 79 cents each for huge packages of tinsel the other day.....Christmas decorations, silver, gold, and red. Go For It. mark...

Birdie,
the easiest way are the foam posts, but I don't like them. Maybe
because I'm more a traditionalist. Tying for the foam swap though...
I dislike the Antron as well, in this case because of it's low
performance. I know, others are very satisfied with this stuff for
parachute wings. Maybe you have different stuff over there.
Calftail. My no. 1 choise. Stiff, even when wet. Neat to handle, I like
natural materials.
Recently I tied a lot with feathers for the posts. Got a big bag of
white feathers, I asume from hens or goose, like the ones you have in
your pillow. Yes, we still have feathers in our pillows here. <G> Maybe
like turkey flats, but from hens...

Don't forget to add a drop of glue into the post after finishing the
fly.

Best
Rene
