This past weekend I was in Charlie Readings fly shop near Bennett Springs, MO and saw the new 'gummy minnow" that was featured in the Nov/Dec American Angler.  Have you seen this thing?  I definitely looks like it would catch a lot of fish.

Anyone have much experience tying with sili skin?  The recipe I saw says to use two strips of the stuff to build a base, then one big piece over it all.  This allows you make the back a bit thicker and to create color variations which is pretty realistic.  The problem is, this stuff is $6 for a 2x6 sheet.  I was thinking of making a base out of foil, foam or some other(cheaper) material.  Has anyone tried this?  I don't want to waste any of this "sticky gold".

BTW- It was like X-Mas this week.  I received my "Whiting Essentials Group" from the LinesEnd co-op, and I traded some things for new a Renzetti Cam Traveler.  Not in love with it yet, but it is growing on me.

Thanks,
Matt
