Mark,
We fished the Izaak Walton stretch of the River Dove, then had lunch at the Izaak Walton Hotel. Even had an Izaak Walton Ale! A few little browns, no grayling (which is what we were suposed to be fishing for)
Steve Thornton caught a rather nice brown.
Cheers, Tim

Tim, where did you fish in England? I've been there a LOT! But never got to fish. Misa fished there in 2000 i think it was during the WFFC&CS, and really enjoyed it. She brought home a bunch of cool flies too. How'd you do on the hallowed waters? mark....

Hi Martin,
Trip home was uneventful, now days that's a good thing! Wish you could have gone fishing with us on Monday. It's always nice to put faces with the names!
Guess I've always been a do-it-yourself'er? I'm only making the larger hooks, so it's not like I'm that fanatical!
Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim,
Did you have a good trip home after the BFF?
About this hook making idea... are you sure you want to do that? Why don't you just buy the *^% hooks and use the time you save to brush up your flytying technique :-)

Subject: [VFB] Hook wire?
Hello all!
Coming out of lurk mode to ask a question! As some of you know, I've started to make my own hooks for presentation salmon flies, and I am looking for a source for carbon steel (or any steel or iron ) wire. Don't need 5000 foot rolls of the stuff, but that's all I've found so far.
I have been using large streamer hooks for the wire so far, but I want to start completely from scratch now.
Does anyone know where I can find reasonable lengths (like 100 or 150 foot) of wire? I want the diameter to be about 0.10 or 0.12 inches.
Any ideas out there?
Cheers, Tim

WOW, that's very cool Tim. Ya done good. Misa finally got a few real nice
Grayling in Slovakia at this years WFFC&CS. I sure hope to catch one some
time. Steve is a cool guy right? He was here this summer and did a fly tying
demo that Misa and i went to. Got his book, and he signed it for us. Got a
few of his flies too. Just saw him again at the IFTS. I'm gonna make the BFF
one day. Maybe then i'll finally get to fish in the land that was........
