" My fly drifts only about two feet," he said. "Then it starts to drag.  One cast, and I've put every trout down."  "There are all sorts of drags," I told him.  "Why don't you utilize your drag?  There must be fish in that pool."  He looked at me as though I were a little mad, and told me to see what I could do.  Fortunately, I had on a palmered fly at the time, so I cast it to the edge of the fast water.  The line rested on the still water, not moving, so of course the fly began to drag before it had drifted more than a few feet.  When the drag set in, I raised my rod tip and brought the fly skipping toward me in erratic jumps about eight inches or a foot long.  The fly made about three jumps and socko! - up from the bottom of the deep eddy came a nice brownie and took it into camp.  A glance at my friend's face showed that a great light had dawned."
