Yeah... I wrap it around the dowel and then cut it...

Tried it twice again last night and just made a mess.

It looks just fine in the split of the thread, but when I start to wrap it like 
hackle, it seems to move all around and 'clump' together, then doesn't spin 
around the hook like hackle. I didn't twist the thread much.. just enough to 
keep it in place, so I'm sorta at a loss here on synthetics... you're using 
synthetics with the tool successfully?

Oh wait... I wrap it around the dowel, cut it, push it into the 'table' with 
thread, clip it out of the table with one of the clips, then cut the loops off 
the end (where the strands are doubled over)... then all that goes into the 
thread loop...
