Bill,
in one of the latest issues of a German Flyfishing magazine this or a
very similar pattern was published. I'm not at home right now, but if
memory serves, the author was Roman Moser.
Probably Roman's pattern was without a tail. I'm pretty sure that he
used a foam strip for the parachute post and the thorax as well. When
I'm home I'll try to lock up the article and give you more details.
