From the French "Bois d'Arc' = Wood for Bows. It's commonly used for
making traditional bows. Made a couple myself 40 years ago. Check your
local archery store for what they can get you.

Makes me want to perfect this wood for rods. But, the longest lengths of
suitable material seldom goes over 32". I have to use a lot of special tools
to just cut and mill it to rough dimension, not accounting how many saw
blades I go through doing it.
But it is still a dream.
