Just didn't want to clutter the list, since there's only two of us on the VFB who live close by, but on the other hand, I'll post this to the list and we'll see if anybody else shakes out.
< [EMAIL PROTECTED]> (didn't get a name on his email to me), also asked for access points on the SSG. He's on the Hill Country Fly Fisher's Email list. Below is what I sent to him. (I'm also copying him with this post. Maybe he'll answer and give us his name and phone numbers and maybe join us for a little fishing.)
I'm sure you know this, but after the SSG leaves Lake Georgetown, it meanders SE to Georgetown, crosses I-35 makes a northward turn and heads through San Gabriel Park on the north side of Georgetown where it joins the North San Gabriel and then heads on to Granger Lake. After leaving the lake, the combined rivers ultimately flow into the Brazos (there are whitebass in Granger Lake) and they head upward into the North and South Forks of the SSG.
TO GET TO THE SOUTH SAN GABREL at Georgetown:
Take IH35 Business (Austin Avenue) north into Georgetown. (you'll cross the SSG right after the 2243 exit.) After exiting on Austin Avenue, you'll cross the bridge over the South San Gabriel River. Turn right. There are a couple of access points just down the the road. On the north side of town, you'll cross the SSG at San Gabriel Park. The park is located right off main street as it heads north. Lots of access here. This is where the south fork joins the north fork of the San Gabriel. From there, the North fork flows into Granger Lake. At least, I think it does. There's a bunch of streams all intertwined around Georgetown.
The South / North San Gabriel in Georgetown is where the Sandies come up and is where I fished the other day. I saw, but didn't catch any. So I drove out to the SSG near my place and caught a bunch of sun fish I usually access the river from the CR268 Low Water Crossing . Take 2243 to CR 268. From Georgetown it's about 7 miles west toward Leander to CR268. From Leander, coming east, it's about 3 miles to CR268. This is where the Parmer Lane Extension croses 2243. Go north on 268 until you come to the low water crossing. Lots of good pools, expecially on the west.

P.S. Thanks for the info on SSG above Lake Georgetown. You and I need to join up and wet a line. I live in Woodway, just west of Waco, but my ranch is on CR268. Phone: Home 254-751-1285, Cell 254-744-2104
