As a sideline, you will know that John Shewey in his book on spey and dee flies notes that a good way to make a very passable "blue heron" type salmon fly, is to first spray marabou with hair spray, brush it with a tooth brush and the mini fluff stuff comes off on the  brush..Then you tie with the marabou feather..doesn't seem to hurt the feather at all and makes a great substitute when I've used it. So I don't think hair spray will hurt the flies at all. On the  other hand, I have many shadow box flies mounted and hung..all specialty flies from Bas Vershoor, and they have not had any sign of moth infestation for the many years that I've had them. They are framed with a plain brown acid free paper behind them and mounted with a wire placed around the hook, to form a mounting peg, before the fly is ever tied. Joyce
