Alan,
I have patches that have white and almost black hair on the same patch. If you buy Moose Mane where you can select the patches, look for the patches that have both light and dark hair. If ordering by phone, ask for a patch with both light and dark hair. Skeeters was one of my favorite flies back in N.J. the Skeeeter state. LOL
Will give you a patch when you are here for the Sowbug. It is the same hair I weave my Mayflies on.

Where do you find light colored hair on a Moose mane? Do you have to bleach
it?

I like to tie bodies with moose mane. It makes a good mosquito body.
Take a strand of light and a strand of dark, tie in by the tips, wrap
them side by side. It gives you a realistic mosquito body. Apply a
couple of coats of head cement and it will be pretty durable.

Dont feel bad Jimi, the smallest i can manage for anything is a #22
Stripped Reacock Herl and CDC Midge. I also tie these with moose mane
for the body.
