I was reading in Food and Wine that the wine industry
is going to be trending toward screw-cap bottling, no
joke. It's really just a matter of overcoming consumer
perceptions. The cork is getting too expensive and the
plastic has it's own disposal problems. Additionally,
cork doesn't provide a consistent storage solution for
the wine that a screw top does. Many a vintage bottle
of wine has been opened to find that it has been
ruined by a bad cork. Get your corks while you can.
