GREAT idea for a new thread Jerry. Hawkins, Young, Hodges, BUT OFcourse. BTW, you hear that new release (not newly recorded) by Chet Baker? Boy i got Chet Baker stories for you some time, lol. Did a gig in Spain once.......was a triple bill, we (the Messengers) headlined (played last), the Tete Montillue Quartet (Spain's all-time best Jazz Pianist) played first, and B.B. was in between. Was really cool backstage, George Coleman who was playing with Tete, and who was with B.B. years before that, was telling stories about his days with B.B. It was so cool, he was still at it the next day on the bus to the airport. I had already wored with Tete in my Keystone Korner days, so we got along great. And of course the rest of his quartet were regular day in day out friends, David Williams bass, and Billy Higgines drums. That was the only time i ever got to meet B.B. what a treat. He was just like all the Giants always are........extremely gracious and inviting and warm and welcoming. "Something Else." Which is by btw.......ONE of my ALL-TIME favorite albums. Cannonball Adderly's first record date as a leader. Miles, Bu', Sam Jones, Hank Jones round it out. "Something Else." REDICKALUS! mark.....
