Hi Ken, I am not familiar with this product but from your description, I think the package is natural dubbing that has been saturated with CDC oil. The oil would make the fibers of the dubbing more buoyant, so this would be a product primariliy for surface flies. If the package contained CDC feathers, you would notice the difference from regular dubbing immediately. CDC is very delicate, downy and feathery material. Wes Wada Bend, Oregon
