Wes, late to the party. As Don pointed out, despite the misuse of the
word by many tier/writers, we don't use filoplumes in tying, but we do
use aftershafts. While most are used to finding these on pheasant body
skins, they are found on many other birds. If you have any bird skins
with body feathers, you have a potential source.
Unfortunately you never revealed how you intended to use these. I say
that because, if you intend to wind them (as opposed to binding them
down lengthwise), you can make your own with a dubbing loop or, if you
own one, a Magic Tool.
