Deb, i have a few of Stack's flies including a spey, and a framed A.S. fly by Tim, but who is this guy Taggart? The name is familier.............anyway, like i sad, all the small spey flies i've seen are for fishing. I have one spey tyed and framed by Poul Jorgensen which is about a 1.5 size. Another framed by Poul but tyed by Bob Veverka (hope i spelled that right?) which is also a bit small by framing standards, but it was originally a gift from Bob to Lee Wulff, most likely meant to be fished. Joan donated it with many others to the CFFC&M, and i got it in an auction. I just recently got a real nice framed Dee which is on prolly a 3/0 at least. I just cant's see framing anything to small.....course my eyes are shot, lol. Just seems a person outta be able to tell wass up without having to put his nose on the glass. lol, mark

I was looking at my spey flies I have collected... I had to laugh.... of
the ones I could find in just a couple minutes three of them tied by people
you may know, Tim Trexler, Stack Scoville and Steve Taggart all would fit in
the gap (gape) of the hooks you used on your spey flies. They would take a
smaller hackle from a Ring neck pheasant rump one of them has a small hackle
that doesn't extend beyond the bend of the hook I may even venture to guess
this may be a long saddle hackle but it is tied in spey style. These were
all tied for fishing but I've framed them in Riker boxes.

Ok Deb, now you got me to where i've got to find out. CHAZ, do crows have
ANY feathers on 'em that can be used on spey flies? And that is........using
a framing size hook, or a fishing size hook. I trust we all agree that
there's not much sense in framing a salmon fly of any type on a hook much
smaller than say a size 2. Not if your really thinking about your audience
anyway. So Chaz, i guess the question is really, do crows have any feathers
that can be used to tye spey flies on a size 2 hook or larger? Personally i
wouldn't tye one on anything less than a size 1/0 anyway....not for framing.
