First the plane was delayed because of engine trouble. Then delayed till next day.
So at 22:00 we were taken to a hotel, real nice place but then, for 250USD per night it should be nice, and were back on the bus to return to the airport for 06:00 this morning. The plane was still busted.
So, we had to wait while they tried to locate a replacement airplane, then find a pilot and crew, and were relieved they managed this. Pity the pilot had run out of available legal flight time.
So, they found another plane, this one was in Manchester, which 1. worked, 2. had a crew, 3. had to firstly fly to Cyprus to collect the people who were stranded there, then return to Newcastle to collect us.
So, they gave us a refreshment voucher for 3.5 pounds (about 7 dollars) but a coffee and sandwitch costs about 10 dollars at this airport. Mind you a double scotch costs 13 dollars.
So, they gave us the choice of returning to the hotel to wait for the plane or return home by taxi to await the plane, so we went home. BUT - not before the bagage handlers lost my fishing rod that had to travel in cargo as the british airport decided it was a possible weapon.......
So, I am leaving once again for the airport to try to go on holiday, please dont break the VFB whilst I am gone.
