Jimmy,

I am very sorry about this. I have too many close to me that have suffered and some died with cancer. Someday maybe we can beat it. Our family sends best wishes and prayers.

Subject: [VFB] Update on Jody's Mom

Several of you have asked OFF List, so I tho't I'd give a short update ON List. Jody has been In Eugene, OR with her Mom who is in the end stages of Liver/Lung cancer, since May 15. I stayed behind to take care of the ranch, the house, the bills, grass, flowers, pets, etc. Her Mom is getting weaker every day and is barely eating. She has several terrible coughing spasms each day as well as periods where her breathing is very difficult. Her lungs continue to collect fluid. She has continued to hang on, although there's been several times that Jody thought she'd lost her. So, Grandma has gotten to see most of her great grandkids. Three of my 5 children have taken their families to see her over the last three weeks, plus Jody's older sister flies in from Huntingdon, WVA tomorrow. So Grandma has had something to hang on to / look forward to. The good thing, if there is one, is that she's not in any pain - just wasting away. They have an RN who started coming to Mom's home from 9:00 p.m. till 7:00 a.m. a couple weeks ago, so that's been a big help to Jody, for she basically took care of her Mom 24 / 7 before that. Her three sisters in Eugene are also spelling Jody some during the days. This has taken a lot of stress off Jody, and as most of you know, Jody is a breast cancer survivor. But, being retired, Jody has the time and more important, the "want to" to be with and care for her Mother.

Jody had me get a refill on her own cancer pills (Arimidex), and send to her today, so it appears she will be with her Mom till the end.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
