Folks: Yesterday, I went back to the lake Bluegill
fishing, armed with some BEAUTIFUL Flies I got from Richard Zieger and, unlike
the day before.. I landed at least 15 fish.. Mostly bluegill and a cpl shell
crackers.. I am finding that getting them ON the hook after a strike, is like my
crappie fishing with Jigs, Takes PRACTICE... I used to get the little strikes on
grub tailed Jigs when crappie fishing and lose 90% of the fish.. I can now land,
(or at least hook LOL) 75% of all strikes.. Anyway, I caught these yesterday
(most) on a fat tailed grub, and a black spider and a white spider, which I
caught more off the white one than black I guess cause the water is atill very
stained form flooding we have had. Anyway, my question is on retreival method..
Do ya'll reel in the fish, or just stip the line to retrieve the fish???
Situation is this.. I drift fish 25-30 ft from the bank (as they are still on
the bed), and when one gets on, I reeled a few, and stripped in a few.. Reeling
was more fun, but I lost more fish, and it took longer...So, is there a proper
method??? Or a personal thing??? Or some way that is totally different from the
ones I mentioned??? Thanks in Advance, Chuck
