Deb, i'm a big CDC fan myself............for many things. Now that you remind me, i think i did see that trick your taking about.........was it in the Mike Radencich DVD? He's going to be in Livingston this Aug. for the conclave. Unfortunately Marvin Nolte and Judy Lehmberg won't be. Was plannin' on gettin' my 4th framed fly, (one for each year i've went) from Judy. Prolly woulda taken their class again too. It was THAT good. I think your right about subs. and the cost of certain materials. So far i've stayed away from the Cory Bustard, Indian Crow, etc., etc., etc........ mark

I've picked up toucan off of ebay. I know it's not your favorite spot. I
have to tell you though, a light golden yellow CDC feather is as close of a
substitute as it gets. You need to use six toucan feathers in each veiling
for a Jock Scott just to get the color they are so wispy. I'm a pretty
picky person when it comes to substitutes and I really like CDC. I don't
even use my real toucan.
I tend to keep samples of the real stuff just to match up my substitutes.
I'm not going to mortgage the house for feathers. There's really no need
to.
Deb

Deb, you should of said something when you were in my tyin'room. I'da shown
you some serious Macaw feathers. What i'm after now is some Tucan. I have
the local (in Liberty) pet store saving me feathers all the time. Lemme know

if you ever find a source for Tucan, ok? mark
