Let me add this. DON'T MIX WITH OTHER TYING MATERIALS UNTIL YOU DE-BUG THE ROAD KILL MATERIAL. Shall I tell you why. Lost a lot of material from some goose wings that I had picked up.

Check with your DNR, DOW, G & F for regulations, they vary from state to state.

I hit a deer in CO and had to get a "Road Kill Permit" from the state patrol to keep it, even if only for the hide.

How is an officer to know if it's road kill or poached? Check the local laws!

Also learn the techniques for curing the feathers, hair, or furs. I like the book "From the field to the fly".

Is it legal to take road kill? Such as, if I find a deer that has been hit by a truck, is it legal for me to harvest this deer? Should I call DNR before doing so? Anyone with any ideas? I know turkeys and the such, it should not be a problem to pluck feathers off the carcas, but as far as harvesting the bird/deer for meat????
