Hi VFB,
I have just started using Skype, a free internet telephony system, and
I really like it so far. I am using it via a headset (headphone/boom
microphone) combo, but it is possible to use a microphone and your
computer speakers, just not as good quality. The sound quality using a
headset is phenomenal.
Looking forward to Skype calls with VFB folk. Even if you call someone
on a regular phone not part of the Skype system, the calls are only
approx. 2 cents per minute, even for example if I am calling someone in
the UK from Oregon in the USA. If both ends have free Skype accounts,
the call is FREE. It's even possible to do conference calls.

Under Skype preferences, you have several options for privacy. It is
recommended that you set Allow calls from: "Only people from my
Contacts" to prevent general Skype users from calling you.
