Nylon stored in the dark, DRY, and at below ambient temperatures, may last quite a while.  Hans (where is that man?) has stated his disdain for floro, claiming it takes forever to disintegrate.  Well, yes, but the good thing is, it doesn't break down, so it doesn't produce toxic monomers or other breakdown products...
