Sounds like you had a good day.

Last night I tied up 6 Chili Peppers from some of the old original
materials that Tony sent to me in a care package about 6 years ago.
(yes I have hoarded this material). after giving one to Tony and the
other to my Grandson, I was out.
Last week I completed the repairs to my newly acquired canvas covered
37 year old canoe. Friday my new PFD arrived in the mail. Plan was
coming together.
Up at 5 AM this morning and as the canoe was already tied on top the
rack of my pickup, filled my coffee jug, grabbed two rod tubes and
chest pack and off I went. Drove less than ½ hour to a 53 acre lake I
had been wanting to fish. Unloaded the canoe and set it in the water
and no leaks! In taking a look at the lake from the launch site I
figured to paddle up the lake to the far end. Was going along smoothly
and spotted a very good looking spot, so slipped the canoe toward the
bank, already had one rod ready so cast into a spot I knew had a fish.
First cast, allowed the CP to sink and on the first strip had a nice
bow on. Not all the time was I so fortunate but in the hour and ½ I
was there I managed to bring to my net, 15 Bows. Size ran from 12" to
the largest being about 16".
Once I got farther up the lake I switched to a dry, why? well it is
not about catching for me, I just enjoy seeing the fish sip my fly off
the top. Was using a PMD the style I tie because I saw them sipping
something off the top that appeared to fit. Got lucky I guess. All
fish were C&Rd.
I was gone from the Ranch about 3 hours, no stress, lots of quiet and
really enjoyed myself. Forgot to mention that when I arrived at the
"put in" I was the only one there. When I left I was still the only
person enjoying a Tuesday morning of fishing while others must have
been at work. I love being retired.
Now that I have the canoe repaired, my PFD and know my plan works,
will be adding to my count of days on the water. Presently is only 34
days. Must work hard to get to 100 this year but sure will have fun
trying.
Have a couple other spots I know about that I must try out.
