I have a lifetime supply of bright yellow Macrame poly yarn that I will
never use. Send a self addressed envelope big enough for 10 feet and
I'll give it to anyone interested.
I like using the little foam pinch on indicators. Yarn indicators get
heavy with water, even if the fibers are waterproof water can still
stick to the surface, and yarn has a LOT of surface. The foam and
o-ring indicators cause my line to twist. It's like having a dart
attached to your line, each time you cast it faces the wind twisting
you line in the process.
But most of the time I high stick it and don't use one at all.

Macrame yarn is the same as poly yarn, Lee Clark packages it and sells
it in
most of the fly shops around here "Clarks tying Yarn" Lucky for me
he's a
good friend and I get some nice chunks from him no charge.

Macrame yarn with fibers separated then brushed out ... hard to find
these days. You might be better off buying a small section of yarn
packaged as bodies for stoneflies -or- buy a prepackaged yarn
indicator
(made from macrame yarn).

What kind of yarn do most folks use to make strike indicators? I
figure
cotton would be out.
