I have a mavica digital. BUT my scanner has better depth of field than the
camera. If you have a scanner, crank up the dpi setting to 400 and you may
be surprised at the results. Now the new high end digitals are another story.
I have had some problems with the CD's that the local photo processors
make. One set there was a lot of dirt on the images, the other had lines
running down it. Every time I brought them back there was a problem on the
re-do also.

That's what I was gonna say, the 28-80 may have a Macro setting, if not you
can buy a macro lens for those... I had an old Minolta XD-5 that I sold a
cpl yrs ago, and could kick my own butt for selling that camera.. it had the
28-80 and then a 70-200, and a lens just for macro, and I used to take pics
of bees pollinating flowers for example, and you could count the particles of
pollen on their feet.... I'm even thinking about going BACK to 35MM , and
just getting prints and a CD too, but, the great thing about digital, is you
know right then whether or not to take another pic if one came out bad.. I
used to take two shots anyway, just in case... Chuck
