We've had threads similar to this before, you are right. There are a lot of creative flies that walk the thin line between fly/lure... now bait?! The sili-skin minnows are a good example. Flies with propellers and made out of fake fingernails... you could go on. Deb

Then in heritage trout waters all materials must be "wound on or about the hook". I guess that would rule out even the sunflower shell since it is glued on the top. "Oh what tangled webs we weave".
