Allan:   The subject always comes up on the warm water and bass boards.  I just can't bring myself to use them in place of a fly.  There's the problem of them staying on the hook during the cast.  I'm talking soft plastics like Slug-o's, Fin-S, Senkos, Flukes etc.  I also draw the line at attaching spinners and propellers to flies.  Personal choice.  I've flirted with scents, didn't have much luck with them when I spin fished and the stuff ruined about a half dozen flies.  I've also have been a bit subtler, leaving a fly or two sitting in a pouch of power bait over the winter.   I found the challenge is to try and imitate the action of the soft plastic and if possible the feel.  As far as scent and salt, you just can't do it with a fly.  I think I've done well with my imitations.  I've come up with a fair imitation of a twister tail, along with flies that mimic the action of a Slug-o, Fin-s or Fluke.  There are flies you can walk the dog with.  There are flies that you can fish like stick baits.  I like Freaner's Flasher as spinner bait imitation.  I have my share of "Rapala Flies".  It's not hard to do a holographic finish similar to lures on a Crease fly or a foam minnow.  Just have to keep playing.   Jerry C "All things considered, I'd rather be in Philadelphia."   -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Från: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] För Allan Fish Skickat: den 5 augusti 2005 13:41 Till: vfb@troutnet.com Ämne: Re: [VFB] Artificals Has anyone used the realistic soft plastic artificals on a fly rod?
