Chris,

What's your winding check made of? Rubber or plastic is easy.

Go ahead and glue it on.

After the glue is dried, mount the butt in a manual lathe (your off hand).
While turning the butt in the manual lathe, grind it down to size with an emery board.

When you put the varnish on the rod wraps, put some on the winding check and it'll
be just as shiny as ever.

Well...Sarah doesn't get back from Yosemite until tomorrow night. I took
advantage of the extra "free time" to wrap my first fly rod. Only problem
is that my winding check is just a bit too large for the rod (1/16" or so).
Does anyone have any suggestions, or do I just need to buy (i.e. order)
another one?

Uh....to keep this fly TYING related....uh....I used thread for the rod
wraps.

Chris
