Do what I do- raid the bead store and look for the bead to suit the hook instead if this is the problem. They always have so many variations on the same theme so you are sure to find the one you can use.

I have here in my hot little hand a water boatman type fly sample on a size 14 hook with a "scintilla bubble" bead on the shank. These are the football shaped beads, 6mm X 3mm, pearl in color. Now, I need to know how to get the bead on the hook! Of course, this shape bead has to go over the eye end of the hook rather than the bend. The Scintilla package says to use a Tiemco 101, a straight-eye hook. Not even close! Won't go over the eye. I also tried a Daiichi 1110. The eye is even bigger. The only hook I found that the bead will go on is a Tiemco 2312, but because of the curved shank the bead nearly occludes the gap. So, does anyone know of a regular length size 14 hook with a very small eye? The only other alternative is to ream out the bead holes, not an inviting prospect since I have 8 dozen of these to tie! Thanks in advance! Janet
