Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on the basics.....?
And maybe a book on tying materials....... something to help a newbie get
Randy,
There are a lot of good books out there. It's difficult to
recommend one book, because what I like,
someone else wiill think there's a better one.
Skip Morris books are well illustrated and pretty well written.
I notice that LinesEnd has several tying DVD's.
My all-time favorite beginners book was one that was short on
pictures, but VERY well written - Eric Leiser's "Complete Book of
Fly Tying" (or something like that).
He also wrote a book on materials: "Fly-Tying
Materials: Their Procurement, Use, and Protection"
They're available used through Amazon. Maybe even some new
copies around.
Best thing is to find a local club (or shop or person)that gives
lessons.
