Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on the basics.....? Randy,   If possible, find a local club or check with your local Fly shop.   I might suggest checking out the beginners fly tying section by the late Al Campbell on http://www.flyanglersonline.com click on the fly tying menu at the left of the screen. This will lead you from very basic to the most advanced with a weekly new FOTW (fly of the week). All with excellent photos and text to guide you in your new hobby. All at your finger tips on your own computer, and the cost is nothing. Never will you be charged anything for information found there. For any other questions you may and will come up with, almost everyone here on VFB are willing to help you out. You just have to ask.
