The temple dog is just as Deb remembered a long-haired dog called Shi Tzu. Its hair is often used for salmon and sea-trout patterns here in Scandinavia. If you google for the Swedish word for it "tempelhund" you will find some pages (most of them in Swedish). It can be bought here in Sweden for about 10$/patch.

LOL.... Ah yes the collie dog... and what does this say? I'm grateful
not to be a long haired plushy dog living anywhere near a good salmon run in
Europe. :) Now did you ever ask yourself what Arctic Runner is? VBG

Deb
Hint.... you don't want to be an Icelandic pony living near a salmon run
either.

I think I remember reading that the name had something to do with the hair
they tied the originals with. I think it really was a long haired
dog.....Shitzu or Lasa Apso? I have no idea how to spell these dogs names.
:) I couldn't find it when I googled it but I know there is another new
tyer on the list that is in my swap. Maybe he knows the answer. I think
this is the kind of fly he is tying for the swap.
Tommy Olinsson do you know the answer?? He's having trouble posting to the
VFB so if I get a response from him I will forward it to you.
Sorry,
Deb
