Hi Wes:

I only every take my gear to the club but some of those guys have the same
idea as you and use a small photo album for all the smaller stuff like nymph
rib, bits and pieces, biots etc.
I just have (although I have no space in it anymore!) a three tier tool box
with removable boxes on the lid. All the small stuff I keep at the bottom in
little ziplocks and they lined up in a couple of rows like little soldiers.
No more space though!! How does a tier manage to only take a bit of stuff.
If I can't make it to New Zealand in December and go to Tasmania instead,
I'll be filling half my car with tying gear, and maybe a little bag of clean
clothes....if there is any space of course.

Keith,

A few additions...

I like putting materials into the pockets of letter size clear plastic
file pockets meant for standard three-ring binders of whatever size
you need. You can get a large variety of styles (pockets per page)
depending on whether the pages are intended for filing (for example)
business cards or CDs.

For dubbing, I just put a couple of pinches of dubbing from a dubbing
package into a pocket. That is more than enough to tie a couple dozen
flies usually. I can get 12 different dubbings on one file page, and
it is easy to organize them as to color and type. I do the same for
the various colors of Lite Brite, Ice Dub, etc. Larger file pockets
can hold feathers and fur.

DonO, what kind of side tying tools table are you using? I was
recently attending an expo in northern California (manning a trade
show both, and only tying at the table). Directly opposite me were
three or four rows of tables for the guest fly tyers. I was shocked
how little room was made available to each tyer! No way I could have
put my full setup into that small a space. A side tying tools table
might have really come in handy!
