I usually make my pilgrimage from England last week of April first week of
May.
Not only will you pick up most species but the Tarpon run is usually pretty
good at that time. We tend to stay around Islamorada though.
Then we travel up to Fort Myers beach where I even had the pleasure of
sitting in on one of Gingers fly tying classes (didn't feel brave enough to
show myself trying to tie in front of the locals )
See all this talk of Florida has got me excited about next year already, I
think I better go and calm down in a dark room somewhere.

Thanks for the seasonal fishing guide, we will be in Marathon for 2 weeks
starting May 20. In past years we have gone in the fall, early spring and
dead of winter in New England, got something each trip though. We
actually never pick just one species to "go for" and have gotten several
nice mackerel and jack's, you never set yourself up to be disappointed if
you don't just look for one species.
We picked May as it looked a good time down there and at Cape Hatteras
on the way back.

Left us sitting in our driveway with boat hitched wondering where Waldo
was. Here is a good guide for seasonal fishing. Looks like snook,
mackerel, seatrout are your best bets. Snook and some reds will be up
the mangrove creeks. AVAILABILITY 1=Scarce 2=Spotty 3=Available 4=Good

Subject: [VFB] Florida Keys Flyfishing
I'm planning a trip this year's-end down to the Bagwan's area (aka
JerryG- yeah, I know- I'm a glutton for punishment) and then down to the
keys (never been there- Sanabel is as far as I've gotten).
What's the best fish to target for late Dec/early Jan. in the S. Florida
area? I'll have my Mokai and Jerry would have his kayak, so we'll be
targeting inshore species mostly. But if anything big (marlin,
sailfish) is running, I'll charter a captain and we'll try for those,
too.
Ginger, if you're around, maybe we can actually get to fish this time.
Any help would be appreciated. If anyone wants to go along, let's do
it.
