Henk, I've been tying some Moser flies, wherein the body is wrapped with acetate floss and you touch it with acetone to get the chemical reaction thus making the body. I am wondering, just exactly what is happening , in simple terms, that causes this effect? Inquiring minds want to know. Joyce

I'm not Henk. But what is actually happening is that the floss is dissolving (at least partially) in the acetone and then reprecipitated as the acetone rapidly evaporates, similar to the application of a much more dilute
solution of head cement, which sets up as the solvent dries.
