... They are decent table fare as well when prepared correctly. I've eaten alligator gars (when I lived in New Orleans) but I've never eaten the long-nosed gar. An alligator gar caught in Lake Pontchartrain or the swamps was pretty god eating, prepared properly. We just wouldn't eat the 6' monsters we caught in the drainage ditches. Cleaning them requires an axe. DonO
