Keeping the Als spelled right should be one of my better traits as I have two close friends by the name of Alan and Allan... and the there's my neighbor, Allen.
Did I mention my new finds of cool products to store hooks, flys, dubbing, etc.? I'm ordering some samples and will send them to Byard with pricing. I'm convinced that Lines End can add some real bargains on some very useful tying accessories which will make Byard's shop even more appealing. This quest to find new sources for stuff we can use in tying is fun. The first guy to open my eyes was Fred Reese whose shop is now gone but he used to dye his own everything and search out all kinds of neat materials before the Internet.
The big shops might have a huge assortment of very expensive stuff but Byard has an eye for the more useful and unique items. Take Awesome Hair (very fine strong shimmery fibers with opalescent qualities), DonO ties some gorgeous flys for salt water with it but Byard discovered how it adds "a kicker" to small ones and came up with his Killer Kaddis (it really is that good). Then he added the new saddle tubes and thread tubes after I asked for them repeatedly. Lines end sells them by the each or you can get SIX for $7.95 I believe. I just noticed another popular shop we all know sell tubes for $4.99 EACH (see Byard, I told you your price was too low).
Well, enough commercials but I'm trying to get my order under $300 (er, Lina, I meant $100) as I need a #239 (blue wing olive on white which is a color I got in a co-op swap pack) Whiting midge saddle (Byard can get halves and quarters or certain Whiting products in a few days but he hasn't added a special order page (hint).
