Murf,
I have to agree with you.
Garry, contact me off list.

Definitely go with a large nymph, unweighted or just a microshot or two depending how deep it is. The Killer Caddis/Copper John patterns should do well too but maybe size them up to a 14. If you REALLY want to knock em dead, put on Tony Spezio's Chili Pepper (sort of a copper flashy beadhead bugger). Just my 2 cents since I have a hole on the Little Pautuxent down here that sounds identical and those types of patterns have done great there.

Yeah, and probably the most difficult type of hole for
me. Slow, Long and Deep. I'm fishing the inside of the bend,
water flowing from right to left. The far side is unwadable and
is tight by spinning standards. Roll casting from the inside is
easily done. Rising fish are few and far between and nothing
rising steadily. Baits of choice are nightcrawlers and salted
minnows (I think) suspended below a float.

Most of your dry patterns would be a bust I think. I've
never really seen anything hatching off the hole. A green or mean
(red) weenie might work and I've never been comfortable tying a
big San Juan Worm. I just don't have much confidence in them. I'm still new at getting a streamer to 'work' properly, mostly a dredger/nympher type fisher.
This is a stocker stream and I'll get the name as soon as
I find my PA Atlas and Gazetteer.

    PS -- THANKS!!!!

Bait fishermen are outfishing you??? You're using the wrong

can come up with a perfect flybox for you. I'll begin without
even knowing what kind of water and ammend it later when you
        respond.  Here it is;

Green Weenie #18, Copper/Burgundy Killer Caddis #16, Yellow
Humpy #18, PTN #16, Tan CDC & ELK #16, Brown Stone Nymph
        #12... next?
