Some other things you can use for dying are Easter
Egg dyes, which make nice pastels, and crepe paper for vibrant colors (just soak
the crepe paper in water, and the dye runs off. Add vinegar to set the
color).
You can also get some
really good quality dyes at wool/spinning/yarn shops. Some of the brands I
have used with success are Jacquard, Country Classic, Gaywool, and
Landscapes. These are all "acid" dyes, which means they are for dying
animal fibers (feathers, fur, hair etc.) Rit is a "union" dye which means
it can dye either animal or plant fibers (cotton, linen etc.)
