Rene,

I LOVE soft hackle flys.  Always get emerger and soft hackle wet intertwined but one of the easiest ties is just a sparse body dubbed/flossed/thread/wire and a couple winds of soft hackle.  I really appreciated the post re the nymph just made of guard-hairy dubbing.  Teased and tapered a bit, it looks as much like a nymph to fish as the most sophisticated pattern IMHO.

Murph, All,

look at a soft hackle fly. Probably a good 'half torn apart' fly. The soft hackle feather imitates very good a hackle getting loose etc....

Anyway, most of us have stories about a fly getting torn apart by each fish and then becoming even more attractive as hackle unravels, etc.  As for Al's Fly, I'd rather has one torn up a wee bit as it looks buggier that way.  So Tony, tie me one and get it a bit ripped up so I have a "good" one when I visit to fish with.  ;-)
