Folks: I don't wanna make any late, great tyers turn over
in their graves, or any hear keel over, but I have tried something that seems to
work well for Me, but have never read or heard of anybody else doing it. Seems
that whenever I try to tie in wet hackle, I ALWAYS grab barbs with the threads,
and they end up going frontwards, backwards, sideways, all over but straight...
So... I stripped ALL the barbs off one side of the quill. Tied it in so the
proper side would be forward when it was tied. Allowed twice the quill length to
make up for the missing barbs, and then just wrap it around the shank. Works
like a charm... Anybody ever done this??? Chuck
