Jerry: Thanks for the info.. Do you order them in the same
size as a Mono Leader???? That is my main problem with Monofilament leaders is
getting them to turn over correctly.. They want to ball up on me a lot, course,
lately I've been fishing in very strong winds, so that wouldn't help
either...Also, I searched and searched last night and found a lot of
"instructions", but like you say about the door knob I need pics too LOL....
Thanks, Chuck

Subject: Re: [VFB] Furled Leaders
I saw Rick mention furled leaders at the Sow Bug.. Are
they worth the extra money??? I think we may have discussed this a few
months ago, but my memory ain't what it used to Be. I think it was Del who
was telling Me he tied his own, and I may only have to buy one or two per
season, instead of a bunch of them. is this true??? And do you still use a
tippet with a furled leader???Thanks in advance, Chuck
I've been using them for about 6 years now. Was introduced to them
on the old VFS Chat room by Hans W and Jim Cramer. I'm not mechanically
inclined it always takes me at least two hours to install a door lock, so I'm
don't even attempt to make my own. The ones I've gotten were done by
barter for tying materials, hooks or flies. I prefer the ones
constructed out of tying thread and have enough to last me a couple of years.
I've got some that will turn over a 28 and a couple that will turn over a salt
water fly. If you pick up those made of thread remember you need to
treat them with a floatant or silicone paste or after a bit they absorb water
and sink on you. They seems to be a well kept secret here in SE
PA. I've had some "experienced" fly fishers tell me I'd do a whole lot
better if I had a proper leader. I normally fish mine with 5 or 6 feet
of tippet material.
