Thanks to all on the tips about that book.. That is what I want, telling me how to do certain things...I have a few books that tell me recipes and have pics, so I went looking for"How to" books, and I saw that, and thought that it is expensive, but actually cheaper than buyin 5-6 different books to get all the info you'd get in that one volume.. Cause that is what I did, used the Amazon part where you can "search inside this book" to see the table of contents, index etc, and it just looked like everything rolled into one book, vs having books everywhere.. LOL ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter Gramp To: vfb@troutnet.com Sent: Saturday, December 17, 2005 7:49 AM Subject: Re: [VFB] The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference I have to second ALL of the many replies so far, and add my 2 cents--   It has very few patterns in the book, but that's not the purpose of the book... it goes through just about every possible way of tying, pictorially, in such a way that a monkey could imitate it (well, I learned from it, after all...)  The price is somewhat steep, but if you look at it as the thickness of two other tying books at 30 bucks each, and then look at the amount of information - and usefulness of that information - it pays for itself and more!  This is my #1 reference for techniques, with Perault's dictionary of flies as my #2 overall / #1 pattern reference.  If you don't think it's worth the price, Interlibrary loan it from the local library and see for yourself - I'd be willing to bet that you'll want your own copy after seeing what it has to offer.   On a different note, if I owe you anything, let me know - my e-mail was dl'd onto my computer (out of my inbox) just before the virus and related reformatting...
