Mine has petroleum nathptha, hexane, toluene and acetone... sorta like DonO's base for liquid vinyl?  Has all sorts of special warnings from California to New Jersey.  Had this jar for a long time so maybe they don't make it like this now?  With a bit of high school chemistry know-how, this stuff could... well, it's covered by the Patriot Act isn't it?

Problem was the stinky kind used to be acetone based (very flammable), then they switched to 1,1,1-trichloroethane (extremely bad for the liver, no  longer be used in most of the US)...I don't even know for sure what sovent they are suing in "regular" contact cement  anymore.  I haven't used anything but water-based stuff for the past 5-6 years.  I usually spread the stuff, let it dry, put another coat on, let it dry,  put the layers together and drop some heavy books on top of the stack overnight.  (Probably doesn't need that long).  I've never had any come apart.  I admit the spray stuff is faster, but I just don't have a good place to do it in the house.  I'd rather not have to go back up to my lab to do such a simple thing...

Ah, saved by Mark.  I too used contact cement, the stinky kind though.

Ray,

Both spray adhesive and contact cement work quite well.  I usually use the water-based contact cement, takes longer to dry but doesn't smell...(my wife apporves of that, too cold to tie outside now, even in Louisiana).  I've many layered foam  patterns this way.

Thanks again Murf,,,I thought maybe it was a special order from Linesend. Just Kiddin, I bought a load of those sheets all different colors, now I just have to figure out the best way of gluing them together so when I use the cutters I get different layered colored frogs and ants and good stuff like that.I was thinking of the spray adhesive but not sure if the odor would affect the fish or not. What do you think?
