Haven't done it in two or so years but I use to hit Central Vermont on a regular basis around the first week in June.  Over the years, a caddis dry was the go to pattern.  I prefer the CDC and Elk over the EHC.  Size 10 to 14.  Dark gray or gray-brown with a light tan wing(10-14).  Olive body, medium brown wing(12-14).  Chartreuse body, light tan wing(14) and one off beat one with a black body, tied with chartreuse thread and a dark brown wing.  Another fly I've done well on is a midge pattern that resembles a black fly, size 20 or smaller, A black/red-brown CDC body, wrapped like a CDC and Elk with a white CDC wing.
I fished rivers like the Ouattaquechee between Ludlow and Woodstock, and the Black between Plymouth Union and Echo Lake, then below Ludlow in the special regs section. Always go a trip to the White more for the smallmouth than the trout. I've got a couple of trips to the Dog, a smaller river not that far from Burlington.  If you can get hold of a Gazetteer, the small streams off the dirt roads still hold brookies.  Might even get lucky and stumble on a beaver pond loaded with brookies like I did three or four years ago.

Thanks for all the replies so far.  I'm getting excited.  I don't know that I want to go striper fishing though - too many trout that I haven't caught...

Let's add to the question - any books recommended for the areas?  What should I be tying to be ready?
