I cannot believe
the prices you guys are paying for rods/reels etc. I came across a bit of cash(Spent
on new rod an hour later before another bill comes to put off the purchase for
yet another couple years) a couple weeks ago before my trip to Tasmania and
bought a new rod/reel setup. It is a four weight /four piece Stalker Master
Series 3 and they usually go for US$ 350 here in Oz. First decent rod. The reel
is cheap at around US$50 RRP. For most of the fish I’d come across(mainly trout
to 3-5 pounds) it handled fine….I prefer to palm it anyway. Better control. Unfortunately
though, for a saltwater combo it will cost big bucks for the reel. No way
around it!! I want to
build a 1 weight sometime when I can get the $$$ together. Small, sleek and
sexy. Should be sweet. -----Original
