Tom,

Very nice job with the Nikon 950...especially some of those closeups on cuts.  Bought my wife one when they were tops but she just replaced it with a 5 mpix Kodak.  I hear the Canons are tops for low priced small cameras and have looked at a number of ratings sites to decide on a new camera for myself.  Meanwhile, I have inherited wife's 950 and am learning how best to get good pictures.  One thing I've learned is that red-eye is reduced when the flash is away from the lense.  Any suggestions on improving pictures would be appreciated.

The last sentence in this excerpt from the recipe  should read "behind the head" not "behind the eye".  Sorry.

I plan to add this fly to those I tie at the Sowbug.  In addition I would be happy to share the other tricks I learned in this class with any interested.

Clean out the underfur and stack the Elk hair and trim to the exact size you want (it is tied in right behind the head and extends to the butt end of the body).  Hold the trimmed elk hair on the shank and make one soft loop around the elk hair about 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch behind the trimmed end.  Pull your thread up to tighten the loop.  This will very neatly attach the hair to the top of the shank behind the eye
