Too heavy for me and I have 2 pairs. I swear, Iain, I have the clumbsiest hands and can almost break Kevlar in a heartbeat if I'm not careful. But I AM a rather big boy. Funny though, when I get calm, I can hackle a 26 as easy as a 14. Trick is to calm me down. No rumdums!

I prefer the plain and cheap "English style"
and put a piece of rubber or silicone tube over both jaws - no slip no abrasion
BTW, I have decided the only hackle pliers that I like are the teardrop (Tony uses fine sandpaper if memory serves to get them never to slip...how's that for memory Tony?).
