Nick, Here in the States, when you have an interview, they will ask you when you would be available to start as an employee...  Be honest with them...  Most prospective employers will take into account that you do have a life, and plans have already been made prior to the interview...  Just tell them that you've made arrangements for certain dates, and I'm certain that they will work around those plans...    Rodney... A heavy duty issue came up this morning. I'm unemployed and have been given four new job openings which I HAD to apply for. Yesterday I got a mail from the third, saying the same thing as the two before it... 'the spot has been filled'. I didn't expect anything else from the fourth one either, but they called me this morning and wanted me to come for an interview... Thursday the 9:th. I HAVE to go. Otherwise the unemployment office will cut me off and I will stand without income. If I get the job I HAVE to take it... and if it then starts before the 23:rd of March, we will have a conflict of serious magnitude: Sowbug vs. income..............   I seriously don't know what to do. Calling before the interview and ask, might lead to a lowered first impression. Telling them AT the interview might even lead to notes ending up in one of the 'to be shredded'-piles. Calling my contact at the unemployment office might lead to her not being so nice and helpful as she has been in the past... since it would be "irresponsible not to think about this before". I dread to think what would happen if I don't mention it at all, get the job... and it turns out that I'm out of the country when it starts.   Whatever I now do... please pray for me. /Nick
